Because this is the first Agoradocs blog post, we though that we’d give a little information on what we do. Here are 7 facts I bet you didn’t know about Agoradocs:
Our mission is to empower our users to become more productive and informed citizens by constantly pursuing the distribution of useful and trustworthy public information.
We currently collect, compile, and analyze the web’s largest collection of salaries from tax-supported academic institutions. This is done with the end goal of expansion and wide distribution of the information to our users in a way that is insightful and helpful.
We feel strongly that the key to maintaining free and productive societies is through an informed public. A government that goes unchecked by its electorate (or media for that matter) is doomed to run rampant with corruption and waste. At Agoradocs, we distribute information to you, for you, because it is in fact yours to take.
Agoradocs currently contains over 1 million salaries records from over 20 states and 200 public academic institutions. Data is gathered every day from a variety of governmental sources and transparency organizations primarily through the submission of Freedom of Information Act requests (and other state equivalencies).
This data can be leveraged by job-seekers in the public sector, namely those who work in academic institutions. That however does not mean our records only include professors or those with a PhDs. Universities hire people for many different occupations. It takes all kinds of people to make the world turn!
Every day, the Agoradocs team is working to expand our databases and distribute this information to you. If you don’t see your particular school available, sign up for our mailing list, or get in touch with us on social media and make a request. We will alert you as soon as we’ve posted your state.
You can be sure that we will continue to strive everyday to enhance the Agoradocs experience by adding functionality while continuing to provide you with useful and insightful information. In addition to expanding our databases, we will continue to provide you regular articles and studies involving the data housed in our site.
